In process -- May 2017

Daily efforts (formerly 1 st draft)   Did markups from Chapter 1. Edited Chapter 5 and edited and wrote new bits of chapter 6 of WWS. Accomplishments (formerly Editing) “Wind/Water/Salt”. Posted chapter 5 to OWW. Connecting Critted 7 Got back 7 Circulating 1 Knitting Ann Boleyn (1998).  Last month I was just below the waist. Did 8 rows. Okracoke cardigan (Shirley Paden). Continued to ignore, with 7.5 inches of back done.   Sheer Beauty (Knit, Swirl). At the start of the month, I was maybe three welts into the sleeve backs.   Finished the back and it was so nice I just wanted to work on it ALL THE TIME only partly to get it done, but also because I was curious how it would work out. In an attempt to be virtuous, I cut every strand when I switched colors. This was a mistake. Blocking was LIVING HELL but it came out great. I love the yarn I chose, I love how it hangs. What I read -- May 2017

“Nights at the Circus” by Angela Carter. It’s hard to say what I expected from this. I guess I thought it was going to be somehow “literary” and therefore difficult. It  was a delightful read, though when I got to the end I did google to find out what other people thought of Fevver’s last statement there. Sometimes I feel like maybe I’ve missed something, but apparently not. In a panel about “fractured fairy tales” at Ad Astra, a fellow audience member said “I’m surprised no one has mentioned Angela Carter,” and I almost whipped this out to say “hey, I’m a cool kid.” As an aside, “I’m surprised no one has mentioned…” is a phrase maybe one shouldn’t say when one is in the audience at a panel, especially when the panel started like 10 minutes ago. Or maybe it was the tone. It just sounds like you think everyone up there is more stupid than you. But maybe literary SF conventions aren’t where I should expect refined social skills.
